2023 Auto Expo to be held from January 13-18
The next version of India's largest automobile exhibition, the Auto Expo, will be held from January 13-18, 2023, at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. To recall, the show was last held in 2020 and was supposed to make a comeback in February this year. However, it got canceled due to fears of the spread of coronavirus.
Why does this story matter?
The Auto Expo in India is the biggest stage for car and bike makers to showcase their newest products. The event's cancellation for two years has prompted companies to search for alternative methods to display their goods to the world. The Expo's return in 2023 is also indicative of the industry's efforts to return to normalcy in a post-COVID era.
The inauguration ceremony will be held on January 12
The Director-General of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Rajesh Menon, has revealed the itinerary of the upcoming event. "The Motor Show (Auto Expo) is confirmed from January 13-18, 2023, at India Expo Mart Greater Noida. January 11 will be exclusively for the media; January 12 will be the inaugural ceremony and for the media, special guests, and dealers."
Auto components show would take place at Pragati Maidan
Last year, Menon had claimed that the Auto Expo was a business-to-consumer show visited by large crowds, where the risk of COVID-19 spread was high. Hence, the event was postponed. Notably in 2023, the Auto Expo would take place at Greater Noida, while the auto components show would be held at the Pragati Maidan complex in New Delhi.
Here's recalling the Auto Expo 2020
The Auto Expo 2020 was held in the month of February and witnessed a footfall of over six lakh visitors. Around 70 product launches and unveilings took place at the event, while 108 exhibitors showcased over 350 products.
