JioFiber to offer free broadband connections to new users
As part of Reliance's #CoronaHaaregaIndiaJeetega initiative, JioFiber has announced that it will offer free broadband connectivity to new users where its services are active. However, it will be a basic connection, providing a speed of up to 10Mbps. Additionally, for the existing JioFiber users, the company has said it will offer double data irrespective of the plan they have subscribed to. Here's more.
Jio's initiative encourages people to stay at home
"To ensure that everyone stays connected while at home, Jio will provide Basic JioFiber broadband connectivity (10 Mbps), wherever it is geographically feasible, without any service charges, for this (coronavirus) period," Reliance Industries Limited said in a statement.
However, users will have to pay for installation
According to Jio, there will be no charges for accessing internet connectivity. However, users will have to pay Rs. 2,500 towards installation charges, which includes a refundable amount of Rs. 1,500. This amount will be credited back to the user at the time of surrendering the connection. The company will also provide home gateway routers with a minimum refundable deposit.
Existing users to get double data benefit
Jio has also announced to offer double data benefits to all existing users. To recap, JioFiber offers a total of six broadband plans ranging from the entry-level 100Mbps Bronze plan worth Rs. 699/month to the top-tier Titanium pack, which costs Rs. 8,499/month and offers 1Gbps speed. Depending on the plans, users will also get free voice calls, video calling, and complimentary OTT subscriptions.
Jio is also offering double data with its 4G vouchers
Reliance Jio has also upgraded its 4G data vouchers to offer all prepaid subscribers more bundled benefits. The Rs. 11, Rs. 21, Rs. 51 and Rs. 101 4G data packs now offer up to 12GB of data and up to 1,000 minutes for non-Jio calls.
