Modi government partners with Swiggy to boost employment, skill development
Swiggy, the Bengaluru-based quick commerce and food delivery giant, has announced a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The collaboration aims to enhance skilling and job opportunities within Swiggy's extensive network. This initiative is expected to benefit around 2.4 lakh delivery partners and restaurant staff, associated with the company.
Initiative to offer employment
The joint initiative between Swiggy and the MSDE is designed to offer internship, employment, and training opportunities in various sectors. These include restaurant operations and different facets of retail management. The collaboration aims to create new avenues for the workforce in the logistics sector, highlighting the potential of public-private partnerships in accelerating job creation.
Swiggy Skills to integrate with Skill India Digital Hub
Under the 'Swiggy Skills' initiative, the company's delivery partner platform will be integrated with the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH). This integration will provide Swiggy's workforce with access to online skill development courses, certifications, and training modules. Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, stated that this partnership would "drive transformation at two levels," by boosting the economic contribution of the retail and supply chain logistics sector, while creating skilling opportunities for the workforce.
Swiggy to provide recruitment and training opportunities
Rohit Kapoor, the CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, revealed plans to integrate with MSDE's Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) across their partners' apps. This integration will enable almost 2.4 lakh delivery partners and staff of their two lakh restaurant partners to access online skill development courses and training modules. Kapoor also announced that through Swiggy Instamart operations, they aim to provide recruitment opportunities for 3,000 individuals nationwide.
