Canon is a Japanese multinational corporation, with headquarters based in Ota, Tokyo, Japan. It was founded in August 1937 and specializes in optical, imaging, and industrial products such as lenses, cameras, medical equipment, scanners, printers, and semi-conductor manufacturing equipment. It started manufacturing and distributing digital cameras from 1984, RC-701 being the first, followed by PowerShot and Digital IXUS series.
