Centre approves ₹14,000 crore for 7 major agricultural schemes
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an expenditure of approximately ₹14,000 crore for seven significant agricultural programs. This information was disclosed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw following the cabinet meeting. These programs will focus on research and education, climate resilience, natural resource management, and digitization in agriculture, with an emphasis on the growth of horticulture and livestock sectors.
Additional programs to strengthen agricultural education, livestock health
The approved schemes include a digital agriculture mission worth ₹2,817 crore and a crop science scheme valued at ₹3,979 crore. The cabinet has also given the green light to a ₹2,291 crore program aimed at enhancing agricultural education and management. Additionally, a scheme worth ₹1,702 crore has been approved for sustainable livestock health and production. These initiatives are part of the government's broader strategy to boost the farming sector in India.
Cabinet approves funds for horticulture, natural resource management
The Union Cabinet has also approved a substantial scheme worth ₹860 crore for sustainable horticulture development. Other decisions made by the cabinet include allocating funds to strengthen the Krish Vigyan Kendra (₹1,202 crore), and Natural Resource Management (₹1,115 crore). The total allocation for all seven schemes amounts to ₹13,966 crore.
