Budget session commences today: Key points to know
What's the story
The Parliament's budget session will commence on Friday with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of both Houses.
Subsequently, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The survey, prepared by Chief Economic Adviser V Anantha Nageswaran's team, provides an official assessment of India's economic performance in the current fiscal year.

The Economic Survey will not just underline the nation's problems but also recommend ways for reforms and growth. It is a detailed document that gives a glimpse of the country's economic health.
The government has also included 16 Bills, including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, for discussion in this budget session.
Other important bills include amendments to banking laws, railways regulations, disaster management protocols, oilfield regulations and development guidelines etc.

Sitharaman to present 1st full budget of Modi 3.0 government
On Saturday, Sitharaman will present the Modi 3.0 government's first full Budget. Among other fiscal measures, income tax slabs are expected to change.
The first phase of the budget session will end on February 13, before it adjourns for a recess to examine the budget proposals.
The session will resume on March 10 and continue till April 4, with 27 sittings in total.
Debate schedule
Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha to debate President's address
The Lok Sabha has tentatively earmarked two days (February 3-4) for a debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's address.
The Rajya Sabha has set aside three days for the same.
This will be Sitharaman's second full budget under the BJP-led government. She has already tabled six full budgets and two interim ones.
