BSNL launches new broadband plan, offers Hotstar Premium free
Just as Jio gears up to launch GigaFiber, state-owned telecom giant BSNL has made another move in the highly competitive broadband category. The company has launched a new broadband plan promising high-speed internet with a whopping 300GB data. But, more interestingly, it has also bundled Hotstar Premium subscription with the package. Here's everything you need to know about the plan.
BSNL Superstar 300 with 300GB data
The new broadband plan, dubbed Superstar 300, comes at a price of Rs. 749 and offers 300GB data with 50Mbps of download speed. The upload speed of the plan is not clear. Further, Gadgets360 reports that the BSNL users all across the country will have the option to subscribe to the offering by either submitting an online request or calling BSNL's toll-free number 18003451500.
One year of Hotstar Premium access
While data benefits are pretty good, the most interesting aspect of the new plan is the inclusion of Hotstar. If you take Superstar 300, the telco will offer you one year of Hotstar Premium giving unlimited access to Hotstar's originals, live sports, movies, and TV shows. This would be a real treat for cricket lovers as the platform is also streaming Cricket Worldcup 2019.
Hotstar already features plenty of shows
Hotstar already offers some very popular shows, including the likes of Game of Thrones, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, and The Big Bang Theory. In the movies category, the platform offers The Shape of Water, The Greatest Showman, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Red Sparrow, and more.
BSNL's effort to take on Airtel, Jio
The move from BSNL comes as part of a larger effort to take on leading broadband player Airtel and prepare for the upcoming challenge from Jio GigaFiber. Jio's broadband plans are said to start from Rs. 600, which would make a major challenger for BSNL. To recall, earlier this year, the telco had offered Amazon Prime subscription to subscribers of its Bharat Fiber service.
