BSNL launches new prepaid plans starting from Rs. 118
Adding to its existing line of prepaid packs, state-owned BSNL has launched several new prepaid plans to take on the fierce competition from companies like Reliance Jio and Airtel in the Indian telecom market. Primarily, BSNL has introduced a new Special Tariff Voucher (STV) of Rs. 118. Users can start to avail the plan from April 1.
Rs. 118 prepaid pack offers 1GB data, unlimited voice calls
The Rs. 118 prepaid pack is currently only available in the Tamil Nadu circle. It offers 1GB of 3G/4G data and unlimited voice calling for a validity of 28 days. The unlimited calls can be made on roaming as well except for Delhi and Mumbai circles. Users will also get free access to BSNL's default signature tune which they can change for additional charges.
Competition
The plan directly takes on the Rs. 98 pack from Reliance Jio that offers 2GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calls, 300 SMS, and a subscription to Jio's suite of apps. It also competes with Airtel's Rs. 93 plan and Idea Cellular's Rs. 109 plan.
Rs. 379 plan offers 4GB data, unlimited BSNL-to-BSNL voice calling
Next, BSNL introduced a Rs. 379 plan that offers 4GB of 3G/4G data every day and unlimited BSNL-to-BSNL voice calling for 30 minutes per day. It is valid for 30 days and only available in the Kerala circle. It takes on Jio's Rs. 349 and Rs. 399 prepaid packs that offer 1.5GB 4G data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS per day.
Other prepaid plans introduced by BSNL
Others include a Rs. 551 prepaid pack that offers 1.5GB of 4G data per day exclusively in the Kerala circle. Further, a Rs. 444 pack also offers 1.5GB of 4G data per day along with unlimited voice calls, which, if made to other networks, are limited to 200 minutes per day. This is valid for 60 days.
