BSNL's Rs. 777 broadband plan offers 500GB data at 50Mbps
In a bid to capture the already competitive broadband space in India, BSNL has introduced two new broadband plans. With its new Rs. 799 and Rs. 1,299 Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) plans, the state-owned telecom operator is looking to fend off competition from Reliance Jio which is already prepping to disrupt India's wireless space with JioFiber services. About the new BSNL broadband monthly plans
Priced at Rs. 777, Fibro Combo ULD 777 offers 500GB (FUP limit) at 50Mbps and comes with a 30-day validity The second plan costs Rs. 1,277 and offers 750GB (FUP) at 100Mbps. In both the plans, subscribers also get unlimited calling to any network within India. Notably, these plans are available for new FTTH users only and require one-month tariff as a security deposit.
2Mbps speed post FUP limit; long-term subscription also available
For both the plans, once you exhaust your FUP limit, you will get 2Mbps speed. Moreover, BSNL is also offering a long-term subscription option in these plans. The Rs. 777 plan will cost Rs. 8,547, Rs. 16,317, and Rs. 23,310 while the Rs. 1,299 plan will cost Rs. 14,047, Rs. 26,817, and Rs. 38,310 for a period of one, two and three years respectively.
BSNL also offers non-FTTH plans which start at Rs. 99
BSNL also offers non-FTTH monthly plans which range between Rs. 99 and Rs. 399. Under these plans, you get speed of 20Mbps (till FUP limit) and 1Mbps as after FUP. These plans also offer unlimited voice call to any network in India.
Meanwhile, what are Airtel and Jio offering?
For Rs. 899 monthly plan, Bharti Airtel offers 40Mbps data speed with 150GB (FUP limit) along with unlimited local and STD voice calling. On the other hand, Reliance Jio has started offering high-speed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband connections with 1.1TB of free data at 100Mbps, in select Indian cities. Reliance Jio is expected to roll out its JioFiber commercial services by December this year.
