BSNL, Vodafone won't spoil your New Year eve: Here's why
Calling friends and family to share New Year wishes? The possibility is your special tariffs are not active. However, if you are a BSNL or Vodafone Idea customer, this new year eve won't be like previous years. Both the telcos have announced "No more Blackout days" initiative, that means their customers can use special recharges/vouchers even during holidays like New Year's Eve. Here's more.

Both BSNL and Vodafone Idea have announced that customers will get full benefits of their tariff plans despite the high volume. This means, if you are a BSNL or Vodafone Idea customer, you will be able to make use of your special messaging packs, voice calling tariffs and data plans. Notably, the offer will be applicable to all special days/holidays in 2019.
Other telcos may charge calls or messages at special rates
Following the footsteps of BSNL, Vodafone Idea has also discontinued blackout days for all customers. However, other major telcos like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have not announced any such benefits as of now.
Recently, BSNL updated its prepaid combo STV plans
BSNL has recently updated its prepaid STVs (special tariff vouchers) to offer upto 66% extra talk time and upto 60 days of validity. The Rs. 152 STV offers 1GB of 3G/4G data with 30 days validity and talk time worth Rs. 200. Likewise, the Rs. 175 plan offers a talk time of Rs. 200 with 60 days of validity but only 500MB of data.
BSNL also offers free Amazon Prime membership on select plans
Further, the state-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has also recently started offering free Amazon Prime subscription with all its postpaid and broadband landline plans starting at Rs. 399 and Rs. 749, respectively.
Here's how you can claim BSNL's Amazon Prime offer
If you aren't already on an eligible plan, upgrade to a BSNL postpaid plan worth Rs. 399 or more or a landline broadband plan worth Rs. 745 or more. Go to BSNL-Amazon offer page and enter your details to generate an OTP. Now, validate your OTP and use your Amazon login credentials (create Amazon account if you haven't already) to activate the offer.
