India's leading automaker Maruti Suzuki plans to unveil the next-generation avatar of WagonR with more space and enhanced capabilities. The launch of the new model is set for January 23, but the good news is, you can book it right away. Maruti has started accepting offline and online bookings for the hatchback with a token deposit of Rs. 11,000. Here's more about 2019 WagonR.
2019 WagonR offers space, revamped design
The next-gen WagonR will come with the same tall-boy design but with a bunch of tweaks and, most importantly, more space. It will be 143mm wider than the current model and will pack a revamped look with a bolder grille, larger headlamps, and vertical taillights. The whole thing, as Maruti says, will be built on 5th-gen Heartect platform for impact absorption and safety.
Plus, you'll get more power, higher mileage
Maruti is making some major changes under the hood of WagonR. The 2019 model will come with a 1.2-liter K-Series engine, offering 83PS of power, 113Nm of torque, and enhanced fuel efficiency. There will also be a 1-liter version, which would offer 68PS of power and 90Nm of torque. Notably, both engines will come with 5-speed manual and automatic manual transmission options.
Enhanced features in the cabin
The cabin of 2019 WagonR will be spacious, but in addition to space, it will also have a 'SmartPlay' infotainment system and multiple safety features. With SmartPlay, you'll be able to play music, get news/weather updates as well as the location of closest eateries. As for safety, Maruti is offering several features, including a speed-alert system, driver-side airbag, seatbelt reminder, and ABS with EBD.
Expected price of the 2019 WagonR
Maruti Suzuki WagonR sits in a heavily competitive segment of the automotive market. As such, the next-gen model is expected to be priced around Rs. 4-5 lakh, matching the likes of other hatchbacks, including Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go, and Tata Tiago. It will come in 6 color options: Pearl Poolside Blue, Pearl Nutmeg Brown, Magma Grey, Pearl Autumn Orange, Silky Silver, and Superior White.
