Celebrating 50 years of BMW Motorrad production in the Berlin Spandau factory and the golden jubilee of the T/5 Series, BMW has unveiled a special edition BMW R nineT /5 model. The anniversary model has received some design and cosmetic upgrades while retaining the mechanical specifications of standard BMW R nineT /5. Here's our roundup.

The special edition model sports a naked design with chrome and black finish throughout the frame. Apart from that, it gets a retro touch, thanks to its bulbous headlamp and spoked wheels. Further, the anniversary model gets an all-new Lupine Blue metallic paint along with an anniversary emblem on the fuel tank and new seat with "/5" embossment.
Power and performance
The special edition BMW R nineT /5 is powered by 1,170cc twin-cylinder four-stroke DOHC engine which is capable of making 110bhp of maximum power at 7,750rpm and 116Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. Further, the motorcycle is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and has a top speed of over 200kmph.
BMW R nineT /5: On the road
For handling braking duties, the anniversary edition nineT /5 comes equipped with disc brakes on both front and rear wheels. It also gets automatic stability control and a dual channel ABS for better road handling. Moreover, the bike houses upside-down telescopic forks on the front and a monoshock unit on the rear to handle suspension duties.
Pricing and availability
The BMW Motorrad hasn't revealed the pricing and availability details of the special edition BMW R nineT /5 at the moment. However, looking at the upgrades, we expect the anniversary model to be priced upwards of $15,500 (approximately Rs. 10 lakh) in international markets.
