BigBasket will deliver your Starbucks beverages in just 10 minutes
What's the story
BigBasket, one of the top online grocery platforms, is all set to enter the 10-minute food delivery space.
The company's CEO, Hari Menon, confirmed the development during an interview with CNBC-TV18.
The first phase of this new offering will include food and beverages from Starbucks, a brand that falls under the Tata Group's umbrella. It is expected to launch as soon as next week.
Expansion plans
Firm to expand food delivery with Qmin
After adding Starbucks products, BigBasket also plans to add Qmin offerings to its delivery service.
Qmin is Indian Hotels's food delivery brand and was launched as a standalone app in 2020.
This will enable customers to order food from Taj Hotels via BigBasket's platform.
The company wants to first understand the dynamics of food delivery before expanding this service further.
Healthcare inclusion
BigBasket to add medicines to quick commerce offering
BigBasket is also gearing up to add medicines to its quick commerce portfolio. The addition will be made possible through a partnership with Tata 1MG.
The new service, scheduled to launch on May 1, promises delivery of both over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription-based medicines within 10 minutes.
This expansion marks BigBasket's entry into the healthcare sector as part of its quick commerce strategy.
Tech delivery
10-minute electronics delivery service with Croma
Notably, BigBasket has already launched a 10-minute delivery service for electronics in collaboration with Croma.
The service debuted with the iPhone 16 in September and has since grown to cover other electronic items.
It was initially limited to Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, but plans are in place to expand this service to all regions where BigBasket operates.
Luxury pilot
BigBasket pilots luxury and fashion delivery with Tata Cliq
Apart from food and electronics, BigBasket is also testing a delivery service for luxury and fashion items in collaboration with Tata Cliq.
The pilot project is underway in Bengaluru, with plans to expand this offering further.
This move highlights BigBasket's ambition to diversify its quick commerce portfolio beyond groceries and everyday essentials.
