Italian bike-maker Benelli is working to launch its much-awaited retro scrambler motorcycle, the Benelli Leoncino 500, in India. Internationally, the bike is offered in three variants: Sport, Standard, and Trail. However, according to a report, the company will only be launching the standard model of the motorcycle in the country. Here are the finer details.
Benelli Leoncino 500: At a glance
The upcoming Benelli Leoncino features a naked street look with a bulky fuel tank, rounded headlamps, dual tone paint job and 17-inch spoked wheels. For lighting, the bike houses LED headlamps with DRLs along with the LED taillights and indicators. Further, the motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1,460mm and a kerb weight of 207kg.
Engine and Mileage
The Benelli Leoncino 500, mated to a six-speed gearbox, is powered by a 499.6cc liquid cooled, two-cylinder, DOHC engine which is capable of making 47.58PS of power at 8,500rpm and 46Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm.
Benelli Leoncino 500: On the road
The Benelli Leoncino 500 comes equipped with disc brakes on the front and rear wheels along with the dual-channel ABS for better road handling. Further, the motorcycle sits on the tubular steel-trellis frame and houses 50mm Upside Down Forks (USD) suspension on the front along with a monoshock unit on the rear to handle suspension duties.
And, what will be the pricing?
As for the pocket pinch, the standard Benelli Leoncino 500 is expected to be priced at around Rs. 5 lakh in India. Once launched, the bike will lock horns with Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Ducati Scrambler Icon in the country.
