This start-up is suing Apple for copying Siri Shortcuts logo
Shift, a start-up that uses blockchain technology to create new websites, has sued Apple for 'copying' the Siri Shortcuts logo, a new feature the iPhone maker announced a week ago at WWDC. The start-up has said that Apple's Siri Shortcuts logo carries a striking similarity to its own icon and that is leading to a confusion in the marketplace. Here are the details.
Shift says Apple should either pay or stop infringing
Shift, through a lawsuit, has asked Apple to "stop infringing on our intellectual property" or pay $200,000, which the website maker says will cover the cost to "rebrand using a world-renowned design firm." Moreover, a Shift spokesperson said, "It's mind-blowing that Apple, the firm with the biggest cash pile in history, the firm that is so design-oriented, had to copy our logo."
Siri Shortcuts: About the feature and not its logo
Siri Shortcuts, which is currently a feature limited to iOS 12, is a new app that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to predict what you want. Users can also create their own workflows - for example, a "Heading home" workflow can pull up GPS directions, set-up a smart home, inform others of your arrival etc.
