Steve Wozniak won't buy iPhone X on the opening day
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, known to upgrade his iPhones on the opening day, is in no hurry to buy the new iPhone X. "I'd rather wait and watch that one," he reportedly said. Notably, iPhone X has FaceID, a feature that's being touted as the biggest leap in technology as yet. However, Wozniak isn't too sure if it would work how it's supposed to.
FaceID will recognize you even if you change your hairstyle
The star feature of iPhone X, facial recognition, works on a real-time basis. "Even if you change your hairstyle it will recognize you," claims Apple. The information will not be sent to a remote server, it will be done by on-device processing.
The fate of iPhone X is uncertain
According to UBS analyst Steven Milunovich, fewer people who plan to purchase a new iPhone in the next three months want to buy iPhone 8, which could be good or bad depending on whether they are waiting for the iPhone X. Since this year's iPhone units and revenues will be split between iPhone 8 and iPhone X, it's difficult to predict sales and performance.
Meanwhile, pre-order sales for iPhone X open on October 27
Unveiled in September, iPhone X has an edge-to-edge 5.8-inch display with a stainless steel and glass body. Its 12MP dual cameras work even in the dark. It has wireless charging and a battery that lasts two hours more than iPhone 7. "Textures are simply stunning, no noise, low light performance," says Apple. Its price starts at $999. The pre-order sales open on October 27.
