All-new Hyundai Santro launched, starting at Rs. 3.89 lakh
After several leaks, the all new Hyundai Santro has finally been launched, with pan-India ex-showroom prices ranging between Rs. 3.89 lakh and Rs. 5.64 lakh. Incidentally, the prices almost coincide with an earlier leak which revealed the details of the car's pricing. The all-new Santro will come in five variants - D-Lite, Era, Magna, Sportz, and Asta. Here are the details.
Price ranges based on different variants
The Santro D-Lite variant has been priced at Rs. 3.89 lakh, while the Era variant has been priced at Rs. 4.24 lakh. Price for the Magna variant ranges between Rs. 4.57 lakh and Rs. 5.23 lakh, while the Sportz variant costs between Rs. 4.99 lakh and Rs. 5.64 lakh. Finally, the Santro Asta costs Rs. 5.45 lakh.
The all-new Santro gets a modern, sleek new look
For starters, the all-new Santro looks quite modern with its sleek swept-back headlights, and Hyundai's signature grille. In terms of dimensions, the length of the new Santro is 45mm longer than the older version, and the wheelbase has been increased too. The new Santro is expected to give direct competition to other micro-hatchbacks like the Tata Tiago, and Maruti's Celerio and WagonR.
What the all new Santro packs under its hood
Under its hood, the all-new Santro packs a 1.1-litre petrol engine offering 69hp at 5,500rpm, and a peak torque of 99Nm at 4,500rpm. It's also the first Hyundai model to offer a first-of-its-kind AMT gearbox developed in-house by Hyundai. Additionally, the car will also have a factory-fitted CNG option, which may make it a top pick for taxi aggregators.
The new Santro packs new-age technologies on the inside
On the inside, the new Santro offers many new-age technologies. It comes with a first-in-segment 7-inch infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple Carplay, along with MirrorLink and voice recognition. The new Santro also features first-in-segment rear AC vents, and comes with a rear parking camera, steering-mounted controls, and other features which give it a premium feel.
Mileage and other caveats
Of course, the availability of the aforementioned features varies with the all-new Santro's variants - the base D-Lite is sparse on features, while the top variants get all the features. In terms of mileage, the petrol manual transmission (MT), and automated manual transmission (AMT) variants of the car will offer 20.3kmpl, while CNG variants will offer a mileage of 30.5km per kg of CNG.
