Maruti Suzuki to launch new Ciaz in August
Though initially supposed to be launched last month at the Auto Expo, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will now be unveiled in August 2018. Bookings will most likely begin in July, reported Times of India. Currently fitted with a 1.4-litre petrol or a 1.3-litre diesel engine, Maruti Suzuki's sedan will get an all-new look and an upgraded engine in its 2018 avatar. Here's more.
In a first, Suzuki-developed diesel engine to power Ciaz
The most welcome change in the 2018 Ciaz is the upgraded in-house diesel engine. Until now, Maruti Suzuki used to source Ciaz's diesel engine from Fiat. However, with the new Ciaz, India's largest carmaker will for the first time use an in-house more powerful 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine will also be upgraded to 1.5-litre.
Noteworthy cosmetic modifications; to be costlier than current models
Ciaz 2018's body will be significantly modified from the front and rear. The interiors have been updated too, though specific details are yet to be disclosed. Considering the major improvements, the new version will be costlier than the currently available models priced between Rs. 8-12 lakh. Ever since it first rolled out in 2014, Ciaz has had only minor cosmetic tweaks, no major updates.
New Ciaz to compete with Verna, Honda City, Toyota Yaris
With the new Ciaz, Suzuki hopes to give a tough competition to Hyundai Verna, Honda City and the soon-to-be launched Toyota Yaris, and expects to capture a significant share in the ever-growing Indian sedan market.
