2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz launch scheduled for August
What's the story
According to reports, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is set to be launched in August this year.
Bookings for the new cars is expected to start by the end of July.
While Ciaz's competitors like the Hyundai Verna and Honda City have seen several upgrades, this is Ciaz's first major upgrade since its launch in 2014.
Here's more about the car.
2014 Ciaz
The 2014 Ciaz was a nice car with some drawbacks
The diesel and petrol models of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz had been launched in 2014 with Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel, and 1.4-litre petrol engines, respectively.
As a response to Verna and City's more powerful engines, Maruti Suzuki had initially thought of upgrading the Ciaz's diesel variant to 1.5-litre.
Meanwhile, the petrol variant had seen complaints of an underpowered engine in an otherwise nice car.
2018 Ciaz
What changes have been made in the 2018 Ciaz
However, despite its plans, Maruti Suzuki has decided to stick with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre engine in the 2018 Ciaz's diesel variant.
The petrol variant, on the other hand, is getting an upgrade to a 1.5-litre engine.
The new sedan will come with some cosmetic changes to the front and rear, but the interiors reportedly will remain the same as the 2014 version.
Pricing
The 2018 Ciaz is likely to be more expensive
As far as the pricing of the 2018 Ciaz is concerned, Maruti Suzuki is yet to drop any major hints.
However, it's expected to be more than the current range of Rs. 8-12 lakh.
Meanwhile, the launch of the Toyota Yaris this year is set to intensify the already aggressive competition in the mid-range sedan section of India's automobile market.
