Taking on Jio, Airtel launches Xstream set-top box, Xstream Stick
Airtel is revamping its Digital TV service as Airtel Xstream. Just days after rebranding its Airtel TV app, the company has launched its Android-based Xstream set-top box and Xstream Stick in India. With the latest move, Airtel aims to take on Reliance Jio which is set to commercially roll-out its Jio GigaFiber and Jio HomeTV services this Thursday. Here's more on the Xstream devices.

Airtel's Xstream 4K Hybrid Box brings satellite TV and OTT content to your TV in upto 4K resolution. The device, powered by Android Pie, also gives users access to the Google Play Store as well as Airtel Store for advanced gaming. What's more? It offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, built-in Chromecast, Voice search and a smart remote with one-touch access for Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video.
Airtel's Xstream 4K Hybrid Box is priced at Rs. 3,999
Notably, Airtel's Xstream 4K Hybrid Box is priced at Rs. 3,999. However, existing Airtel Digital TV customers can get it for Rs. 2,249. The package comes with 1-year subscription (worth Rs. 999) of Airtel Xstream service and a one-month subscription to an HD DTH pack. It will be available via Airtel e-store, Flipkart, Amazon, as well as Airtel retail stores, Croma and Vijay Sales.
Meanwhile, what does the Airtel Xstream Stick offer?
Separately, Airtel Xstream Stick, which looks a lot like Google's Chromecast device, comes with preloaded Airtel Xstream app which offers live TV. Users can also access Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube, among other services. Based on Android Oreo, the device features a built-in Chromecast, a "best-in-class" 1.6GHz processor, and a voice search-enabled remote with Bluetooth functionality. However, it misses out on DTH connectivity.

The Airtel Xstream Stick costs Rs. 3,999. Airtel Thanks Platinum and Gold customers will get complimentary access to the content subscription plan. For regular customers, the first month will be free, and thereafter they'll have to pay Rs. 999 for an annual subscription. Like the Xstream Box, it'll be available via Airtel e-store, Flipkart, Amazon, as well as Airtel stores, Croma and Vijay Sales.
