Airtel TV for Android crosses 50-million downloads; free subscription extended
Airtel TV app for Android has crossed over 50 million downloads on the Google Play Store, the company has announced. And to commemorate this feat, Bharti Airtel has extended the Airtel TV free subscription for all its mobile customers till December 31. Notably, the telco was initially offering this free subscription till June but has now extended it till December 31. Here's more.

"We are thrilled at achieving this milestone and being able to scale up the app so rapidly. This is a strong endorsement from our users and a result of our unrelenting focus on delivering a world-class in-app experience," Bharti Airtel said in its statement. "We will continue to expand our content partnerships and bring more exciting innovations to our users," the telco added.
What drives 50 million customers to download a TV app?
Currently, Airtel TV app offers over 375 live TV channels, more than 10,000 movies, and several popular shows. The company has also partnered with content providers Like Eros Now, SonyLIV, HOOQ, Hotstar, Amazon, ALTBalaji, and several others. Moreover, the app also offered free access to IPL 2018 live matches and highlights, unlike Hotstar which charged a membership fee.
Apart from content, in India, local languages are the king
While content is key, in India's diverse culture, local languages play a far crucial role than just content. And Airtel TV offers content in 15 languages, including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Odia, Urdu and even French.
