Jio effect: Airtel offers Karbonn smartphones with attractive refund offers
Keeping up India's intense telecom wars, Airtel has launched two low-cost 4G smartphones in partnership with Karbonn. The A1 Indian will effectively cost Rs. 1,799 against its MRP of Rs. 4,390, while the net cost of the A41 Power will be Rs. 1,849, compared to its MRP of Rs. 4,290. The Karbonn A40 Indian
The Karbonn A40 Indian comes with a 4-inch screen, 1GB RAM 8GB expandable memory, 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera, and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat powered by a 1.3 GhZ processor and a 1400 mAh battery. Airtel had earlier launched it at an effective price of Rs. 1,399, but it was reportedly sold out in the first month of launch.
The Karbonn A41 Power
Meanwhile, the dual-SIM A41 Power comes with a 4-inch touchscreen display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM with 8GB of expandable internal storage. There's a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera. The Android 7.0 device is powered by a 2300mAh non-removable battery.
How will Airtel's refund offer work?
You will need to make a down payment of Rs. 3,299 for the A1 Indian and Rs. 3,349 for the A41 Power. To avail the refund, you will have to recharge with Airtel's monthly Rs. 169 plan for 36 consecutive months. After 18 months, you will be entitled to a refund of Rs. 500, and for another Rs. 1,000 after the next 18 months.
When and where will they be available?
If you do not wish to get the Rs. 169 monthly pack, you could opt for others, but to be eligible for the refund, you will have to ensure a minimum overall recharge value of Rs. 3,000 in the first 18 months and another Rs. 3,000 in the next 18. The devices will be available on Amazon India starting next week.
