Airtel offers 30GB data for upgrading from 2G/3G to 4G
In a new initiative, Airtel is offering 30GB of free data to customers who upgrade from a 2G or 3G network to a 4G Airtel network. Prepaid customers will get 1GB of data every day for 30 days over and above any recharge pack they avail. Meanwhile, postpaid subscribers will get 30GB of data as part of their first billing cycle with roll-over facility.
Here is how you can avail the offer
Airtel customers who are eligible for the offer can claim it either by calling the toll-free number 51111 or through the My Airtel app. The free data benefit will be added to their packs within 24 hours of making the claim. "This will help customers fulfill their aspiration of owning a 4G smartphone by making the transition more rewarding," said Vani Venkatesh, CMO, Airtel.
Get cashback from Airtel on buying select smartphones
The offer complements Airtel's "Mera Pehla Smartphone" scheme, under which it is providing free data benefits, special plans with unlimited calling, and cashback offers to users buying smartphones from select brands. These include Samsung, Intex, Karbonn, Lava, Celkon, Motorola, Lenovo, Nokia, Itel, Zen, and Karbonn.
Airtel trying hard to compete with Reliance Jio
The 30GB free data offer comes in addition to Airtel recently revising its prepaid and postpaid tariff plans. Since the time Reliance Jio entered the telecom sector in September 2016 and disrupted the market with its extremely affordable offerings, Airtel has seen a decline in revenue. So the company has been trying to come up with counter-offers for customer retention.
