Airtel, Huawei conduct 5G network trial; achieve throughput of 3Gbps
Huawei, along with Bharti Airtel, recently tested 5G network trial. The test setup comprised of a 5G RAN operating on 3.5GHz band, 5G Core, and 50GE Network Slicing router. According to Huawei, the test achieved a user throughput of over 3Gbps which happens to be the highest for a 3.5 GHz band with 100MHz bandwidth for a mobile network.
Huawei, Airtel set the backdrop for next-gen 5G networks
Huawei also launched a terminal device called Huawei 5G CPE during Mobile World Congress which is compatible with globally-recognised 3GPP standard for 5G networks. The company further adds that the device marks a new era, as Huawei is all geared for the next generation 5G wireless connectivity. 5G networks are capable of offering data speeds upto 100 times faster than the current 4G standard.
5G rollout expected to commence in India by 2020
Indian government is taking a keen initiative in the current standardization process of 5G networks and plans to rollout 5G technology in India by 2020. Director of networks for Airtel suggests that the next generation 5G network standards will be a game changer. They have the potential to bring about a massive change in the way we live, work, and communicate.
