Airbus to deliver 1 aircraft per week over 10 years
European aerospace major Airbus expects to deliver one aircraft per week on an average to Indian carriers over the next ten years. The company also predicted that India will require 1,750 new passenger and cargo aircraft over the next 20 years (2017-2036). These new aircraft comprise 1,320 single-aisle and 430 wide-body aircraft, valued at $255 billion (Rs. 16.6 lakh crore). Here are more details.
Passenger traffic to grow 8.1% per year: Airbus
Reportedly, Indians will each make four times as many flights as today by 2036. "As a result, passenger traffic serving the Indian market is forecast to grow 8.1% per year over the next 20 years, almost twice as fast as the global average of 4.4%," said Airbus Commercial Aircraft, India President Srinivasan Dwarakanath. Also, domestic traffic is expected to grow five-and-half times.

"India is set to become the world's third largest aviation market by 2019-20 and Airbus is well positioned to partner its growth with backlog orders of over 530 aircraft to date. The company has over 300 planes in operations presently in India," said Dwarakanath.
