Adani partners with Mayo Clinic to venture into healthcare sector
What's the story
The Adani Group is gearing up to foray into the healthcare sector via a strategic partnership with US-based Mayo Clinic Global Consulting, HT Mint has reported.
The collaboration will see an initial investment of around ₹11,700 crore from the Indian conglomerate, headed by Gautam Adani.
The funding will be utilized to set up two health campuses in India, under their new venture 'Adani Health City.'
Mission
Adani Health City to provide affordable medical care
The main focus of Adani Group's healthcare venture is to provide affordable medical care and education facilities of global standards. Adani's family will invest around ₹6,000 crore to build two health campuses in Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The campuses will each host a 1,000-bed multi-super-specialty hospital.
Educational facilities
Campuses to include medical colleges
The Adani Health City campuses will also house medical colleges.
Each college will have at least 150 undergraduate students, over 80 residents, and 40 fellows.
The campuses will also offer step-down and transitional care facilities as well as advanced research options.
The initiative aims to bring healthcare and education under one campus.
Expertise transfer
Mayo Clinic to guide clinical practices at Adani Health City
As part of the partnership, Mayo Clinic will lend its expertise to the Adani Health City campuses.
The idea is to align their clinical practices with those followed by Mayo Clinic globally.
"Mayo Clinic will also offer expert guidance on the integration of technology, with a focus on digital and information technology and healthcare quality enhancement," said an insider familiar with the project.
