Maruti launches next-gen Baleno, price starts at Rs. 5.45 lakh
Maruti Suzuki has launched Baleno, its most-sold premium hatchback, in a new avatar. The automaker has given the car its first facelift in nearly four years by tweaking its front and making its cabin more premium and safer than before. It has also introduced new color options into the existing trims of the vehicle. Here's more about the refreshed Baleno.
Exterior: Bold design tweaks
The new Baleno combines the strength of the outgoing model with a bold new look, especially on the front. The face of the car looks wider with a bumper sporting wider air ducts and a grille enhanced with 3D detailing; it looks like a 'smiling face'. In addition, Baleno also gets LED projector headlamps with DRL and precision cut two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels.
Premium interior, new infotainment system
Along with a new face, Baleno also gets a revamped interior with a premium finish and an upgraded infotainment system. The cabin of the car has been refreshed with dual-tone seat fabric design and a touch of blue and silver colors. Notably, the car also gets SmartPlay Studio, Maruti's own infotainment system for playing music, locating eateries, and getting news and weather updates.
No major changes under the hood
Under the hood, Baleno remains pretty much unchanged and comes in two engine options: 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-liter diesel unit. The petrol engine promises 83 bhp of power, 115 Nm of torque, while the diesel motor makes 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. They both come with manual 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, but the petrol variant has a CVT option.
Safety features on new Baleno
For the purpose of safety, the new Baleno will offer dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, pre-tensioner and force limiter seat belts with reminder, ISOFIX child restraint system, speed alert system, and rear parking sensors as standard across variants.

The petrol variant of Baleno will start at Rs. 5.45 lakh (base sigma model) and go up to Rs. 8.77 lakh (top-end automatic model). Meanwhile, the diesel sigma variant will start at Rs. 6.6 lakh and go up to Rs. 8.6 lakh for the top-end model. Both will be available in original colors along with the all-new Phoenix Red and Magma Grey options.
