2019 BMW S1000RR launched, price starts at Rs. 18.50 lakh
BMW India has finally launched its much-awaited sports bike, the 2019 BMW S1000RR, in the country. Starting at Rs. 18.50 lakh, the bike is offered in three variants: a standard variant, Pro model, and the Pro model with M package. To recall, it was unveiled last November at the EICMA show in Milano, Italy. Here is our roundup.
BMW S1000RR: At a glance
The BMW S1000RR features a super-sport design, sharp features, and an attractive paint job. With a kerb weight of 197kg, the bike runs on 17-inch carbon fiber wheels. Among other features, it offers a 6.5-inch digital instrument console, a bi-directional quick-shifter, and cruise control. For lighting, the bike uses twin LED headlamps along with LED daytime running lights.
Power and performance
BMW S1000R is powered by a 999cc Liquid Cooled 4-Stroke DOHC engine which is capable of making 198.5PS of power at 13,500 rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 10,500rpm. The bike is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and promises a mileage of 12Kmpl. Moreover, it offers four riding modes- Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race.

For braking performance, the all-new sports bike comes equipped with Hayes' 320mm and 220mm disc brakes on the front and rear wheels along with cornering ABS and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). To handle suspension duties, the bike houses Marzocchi upside-down telescopic-fork suspension up front and 2-sided swing arm aluminium suspension on the rear.
The Pro model is also available with M package
Further, as part of M Package, the 2019 S1000RR Pro M Sport model gets a new Motorsport paint finish, M carbon fiber wheels, M lightweight battery pack, M Sport seats, and the M Chassis kit with rear ride height adjustment as well as a swing arm pivot. Also, the bike gets three riding modes: RACE Pro 1, RACE Pro 2, and RACE Pro 3.
Finally, what's the pricing?
In India, the 2019 BMW S1000RR costs Rs. 18.50 lakh for its base-end model, the mid-end Pro model is available at Rs. 20.95 lakh, and the top-end model with M Package costs Rs. 22.95 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Lastly, the bike will lock horns with rivals such as Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R and Honda CBR1000RR in the country.
