2018 Honda CR-V India launch expected this festive season
Honda Motors will launch its 2018 CR-V in India around the festive season i.e. September-October period, according to people familiar with the matter. This fifth-generation CR-V was first spotted in India at the Auto Expo 2018 back in February. The updated Honda SUV comes with several changes in styling, a bigger cabin and will debut a diesel powertrain. Here's our roundup.
2018 Honda CR-V: At a glance
The 2018 Honda CR-V is based on a new platform which helps in marginally increasing the cabin space. In terms of dimensions, the SUV now has an increased wheelbase of 40mm and is 30mm longer and 35mm wider and taller. The updated CR-V gets the signature thick chrome bar for the grille along with new LED headlights and LED fog lamps.
This model will be first CR-V to accommodate 7 passengers
Notably, this will be the first CR-V to arrive in India with 3 rows of seating i.e. space for 7 passengers. This update brings the car at par with the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, and Skoda Kodiaq among others.
This model will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Inside the cabin, Honda is offering premium material for upholstery, dashboard panels, and in-car controls. The updated SUV will feature a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment console with a Garmin-developed navigation system. Moreover, the 2018 CR-V will also support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone connectivity. Further, we expect the car to come loaded with hi-tech stuff and several drive-assist features.
Under the hood
The 2018 Honda CR-V will be the 'first of its name' to debut a diesel motor. The SUV will come with a new 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine which produces a maximum power of about 120bhp and a peak torque of 300Nm. The car will also be offered with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine which can churn out a maximum power of 184bhp.

The 2018 Honda CR-V SUV is expected to launch in India at a starting price of Rs. 26 lakh and is likely to go up to Rs. 30 lakh for the top-end trim.
