In a bid to resolve the Mahadayi water dispute, pro-Kannada organizations have called for two bandhs in the state over the next two weeks. As per reports, the Bengaluru bandh will coincide with PM Narendra Modi's visit to the city to attend BJP's Parivarthana rally.
Bandhs called to pressurize Centre to look into the matter
The reason behind the bandhs is to put pressure on the government at the Centre to resolve the Mahadayi water sharing issue between Karnataka and Goa. Adding that the issue must be resolved quickly, Kannada Okkuta president Vatal Nagaraj said that the bandhs will not affect the normal life in the state, as not everyone is in favor of them.
Bandhs called by Congress: BJP state chief BS Yeddyurappa

Meanwhile, BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said, "This is a political game. If Congress can call for a bandh we will also call for one when Rahul Gandhi is in the state."
