Bengaluru: Unholy holi; techie dies after fall from 9th floor
Holi celebrations turned tragic for a bunch of software engineers, after their friend fell to his death from the 9th floor of their rented flat in Shobha Daisy apartment in Bengaluru. The 28-year-old native of Bihar who worked in a private company in Kadubisnahalli met with this terrible accident on Thursday night and died instantly. All of them were partying in their flat.
Gautam received a call from his family at 11 PM
Gautam Kumar and his four friends were celebrating Holi on Thursday night as they had an off the next day. According to one of his friends, Gautam received a call from his family around 11 PM. Since it was inaudible inside the flat owing to loud music, he went to the balcony to converse.
'We peeped over the railing and found him lying there'
"But even after 15 minutes when he did not come, we went to see what happened. He wasn't there. So we peeped over the railing and found him lying in a pool of blood," said Kumar Saurav, one of his friends. By the time, the security guard and other people have already gathered around the body. They immediately called an ambulance.
CCTV footage did not throw up anything suspicious
Gautam was taken to a nearby hospital where they declared him brought dead. An officer attached to Bellandur police station said that he died due to massive head injury. Cops ruled out foul play, citing clean CCTV footage and apt security measures in the apartment. Cops also said that Gautam ventured alone to the balcony and fell from there in an inebriated state.

Swati, Gautam's sister who works as a business analyst in the city, said he used to visit her on weekends to her Nagawara flat. He was unmarried and was an alcoholic, she said. She has registered a case of unnatural death, but did not accuse anyone, because Gautam was happy with his roommates. His autopsy was done at St John's Medical College Hospital.
