Bengaluru: Some areas to go 'powerless' for five days
If you are in Bengaluru, you may have to put a lot of your plans on hold since your area might not get electricity till February 28 from 9 AM to 5 PM. And, if the power cuts have already started since Saturday, be ready for some more days. Due to the construction of Hoodi-HSR and Hoodi-EPIP Metro rail lines, the power connections will remain cut as the cables are being relayed.
East and South East areas to be affected
"The Karnataka Electricity Supply Company has asked BESCOM to increase the height of the power lines in several areas where metro construction is going on. For this purpose, power cuts will be done," a senior BESCOM Official said. East and South East regions like HSR Layout sector 1 to 7, Jakkadandra, CPWD quarters, Teacher's Colony and Venkatapura among others, will face this problem.
Major power cuts in city since November
This is not the first time the city has faced power outage for days together. Just a month ago, more than 300 Northern and Eastern part of Greater Bengaluru areas were affected. An assistant engineer with BESCOM had said that this step was aimed at the uninterrupted powers supply in summers. Even in December and November in 2017, the city saw major power cuts.
