You can now fly to Hampi from Bengaluru
UNESCO World Heritage Site Hampi, usually commuted by train or bus, will now have flight services from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). From March 1, Bengaluru-Vidyanagar (Ballari) route will see its first flight run by TruJet under the Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme, launched by Narendra Modi in January last year. Enthusiastic travellers visiting Hampi, in Ballari, will find this move extremely beneficial.
Flight services between the two points were launched in 2004
A one-way ticket from Bengaluru to Vidyanagar airport will cost around Rs. 4,500 (taxes included). Last year in October, Vidyanagar airport had started operating and was chosen for the UDAN scheme in the first bidding phase itself. In 2004, flight services between the two points were thought of and Air Deccan did launch it two years later. However, the carrier soon became non-operational.
