Bengaluru to have heli taxi service in 3 months
Bengaluru became India's first city to have helicopter shuttle service after Ministry of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha announced its launch between the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and Electronic City. Karnataka gets first child-friendly court, more courts to be established
In a big relief for parents and child victims, the first child-friendly court (mandated under POCSO Act) was inaugurated at City Civil Court premises near Mysore Bank circle in Karnataka. The court provides a secure, child-sensitive environment during trials. Its key feature is a one-way glass that prevents the child from seeing the accused. Therefore, the child would not feel intimidated by the accused.
I-T raids end at Karnataka minister's properties, Rs. 300crore seized
Income-tax officials estimated the seizure, from 60 locations linked to Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar, to be over Rs. 300 crore after the raids finally came to an end on Saturday. These raids were possibility the largest and longest conducted by I-T department on any politician in the state. According to an I-T source, Shivakumar will be stuck in I-T row for atleast a year.
Bengaluru: Compulsory STP construction in apartment complexes severely criticized
Following a notification issued by authorities, which makes it compulsory for apartment complexes with over 50 units to set up sewerage treatment plants (STP), members of Federation of Apartment Associations Bengaluru (FAAB) staged a protest criticizing the move. According to FAAB, this move financially burdens the people and isn't practically feasible. The authorities, on the other hand, said that they are following NGT's orders.
Depressed old couple tries to commit suicide, rescued by youngsters
Depressed about ill-health, unable to earn anymore, Ramanna, 59, and his wife Renukamma, 57, tried to commit suicide by lying down on railway tracks near Hosapete. But they were saved just in time by three youngsters, who overheard couple's conversation about sleeping on tracks, by dragging couple away from the train headed for tracks. The couple was taken to Ballari destitute home after that.
