Such temperature not unnatural in January: IMD
IMD Director Sundar Metri said such temperatures are not unnatural in January. "This is still winter, so such weather is normal. The dip will continue till the time clouds don't form. Summer will officially arrive only in March." Adding that average temperature during this time is usually 16 degrees, he said that since January 19, the temperature has hovered around 14 degrees.
Interior regions of Karnataka record lower temperatures than normal
A meteorologist at the Karnataka Disaster Monitoring Centre said that there is, "an anti-cyclonic circulation over the higher heights in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as a result of which interior regions of Karnataka are recording lower temperatures than normal." "As the winds are from the north-eastern direction, places like Mysuru, Chickballapur, and urban and rural Bengaluru has also seen a drop," he added.
