Ahead of elections, CM launches several half-made projects in Bengaluru
Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah covered all the four corners of Bengaluru on Sunday inaugurating several projects, but all are half-done. Many are speculating that it might be an attempt to give a false impression about development just before upcoming elections in May. Yesterday, he inaugurated projects in KR Puram in east, Magadi Road in west, Mylanahalli in north, and HSR Layout in southeast.
Only one out of several inaugurated projects stands 'almost ready'
The ribbon cutting race that started at 11.30 AM went on till 8.45 PM. The inaugurated projects include: An alternate road to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) at Mylanahalli; Bagalur Lake's development work; Hennur junction flyover; Revamped Agara Lake and Swabhimana Tree Park in HSR Layout. Only the newly rejuvenated Agara lake is almost ready. All the rest need some or the other work.
50% of work on alternate road to airport left
The biggest of all the pending projects was the alternate road to KIA, 50% of which still needs asphalting and widening along with some cable work. It will be ready in a week, said M Lakshminarayan, additional chief secretary, PWD. Likewise, the 920-m long Hennur flyover needs a layer of tar. Till then, it cannot be opened for public access.
CM took a similar ribbon-cutting trip earlier as well
Last Thursday, the CM went on a similar journey to launch incomplete projects. A multi-level parking facility at Freedom park that was to accommodate 580 four-wheelers and 500 two-wheelers is now partially open, but only for 34 four-wheelers and 50 two-wheelers. Rest of the work is still going on. Similarly, the concrete at the Okalipuram signal-free corridor is yet to dry up.
