ISB, IIMB organize doctoral consortium for training new B-School faculty
The Indian School of Business (ISB) and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) partnered for organizing a consortium on training doctoral candidates about to begin their careers as B-School faculties. Candidates from ISB, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, and IIM Kozhikode, and others participated in the consortium led by professors Arun Pereira of ISB and Sourav Mukherji of IIMB.
Participants of consortium trained on various aspects
Participants were trained on several aspects such as effective teaching and classroom management, using student-centered learning approaches to teaching/conducting effective case discussions, understanding technology's role inside and outside the classroom, importance of student learning styles, engaging with students better, designing compelling student learning experience.
Consortium organized at ISB Hyderabad for the first time
For the first time, in its fourth year, the consortium was held jointly by ISB and IIMB at the former's Hyderabad campus. ISB Professor Arun Pereira emphasized on how the partnership between both the B-Schools could make a difference and set an example of how such collaboration among Indian B-Schools "can raise the bar for management education" in the country.
IIMB Professor Sourav Mukherjee's statement
Professor Mukherjee stated, "While several doctoral consortia have in the past focused on enhancing much-needed research skills, the uniqueness of this programme lies in its focus on teaching, which given the enormous shortage of high-quality business school faculty, caters to an important national agenda."
