HDFC Bank deploys Mobile ATM in Bengaluru
HDFC Bank has deployed Mobile Automated Teller Machine (ATM) to assist customers during the COVID-19 related restrictions in Bengaluru. At restricted or sealed areas, the Mobile ATMs will eliminate the need for the public to move out of their locality to withdraw cash, the bank noted in a statement. Bengaluru is the 25th city where the bank has deployed Mobile ATMs this year.
Customers can conduct over 15 types of transactions
The locations for Mobile ATM deployment are being identified in consultation with local authorities in the city. "All necessary precautions in terms of maintaining social distancing while queuing for the ATM and sanitization are being taken to ensure the safety of staff and customers," it said. Customers can conduct over 15 types of transactions using the Mobile ATM.
Customers can meet their exigencies at their doorstep: Official
The Mobile ATM will be operational at each location for a specific period and will cover three to four stops in a day. Branch Banking Head, HDFC Bank, Madhusudhan Hegde said, "Our Mobile ATM facility will help customers and the general public get access to cash and other banking services to meet their exigencies at their doorstep."
Mobile ATMs were deployed in over 50 cities last year
During the COVID-19 induced nationwide lockdown last year, HDFC Bank had successfully deployed Mobile ATMs in more than 50 cities in India and facilitated lakhs of customers in availing cash to meet their exigencies. The other cities where the vans have been deployed include Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hosur, Hyderabad, Delhi, Allahabad, Dehradun, Salem, Bhubaneshwar, and Coimbatore.

"We hope our Mobile ATM will provide a great support for people who want to avail basic financial services without having to venture far from their neighborhood," its Group Head for liability products, S Sampathkumar had said.
