Bengaluru: Airport to Electronic City in 15 mins? 'Heli' yeah
Rishabh landed at Kempegowda airport at 7AM, so he could attend his 10AM meeting at Electronic city. But the traffic consumed 3 hours and he missed his chance. Sounds familiar? Well, this is set to change as the city gets its first air taxi soon. Known as Heli Taxii, it will run between the International Airport and Electronic City in Phase 1. Here's more.
Launching next week, not in 2024
Provided by Thumby Aviation Pvt. Ltd, Heli Taxii is intended to reduce the travel time between Kempegowda International Airport and Electronic City from the usual three hours to just 15 minutes. "We need to meet with Bangalore International Airport and other agencies before fixing a date. But launch is next week," confirmed Capt. KNG Nair, Chairman & MD, Thumby Aviation.
Heli Taxii will ply in two shifts
Asia's first sky taxi, Heli Taxii will ply in two shifts. Once from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and again from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. A ticket will cost one Rs. 4,130 (including GST). There is also a luggage allowance system. Per passenger, luggage allowance is 15 kgs. Extra payment ensures extra luggage facility, but that will be shipped by car.
How to book a Heli Taxii ticket?
A Bell 407 helicopter that can accommodate six persons will be used for this purpose. For booking a ticket, one can either do through HeliTaxii app or approach their counter at the airport. The app available in Android and iOS versions allows you to book a month in advance. However, you might not be able to get a confirmed seat.
