Bengaluru to get new e-cab service for corporate firms
Bengaluru city is all set to get as many as 1,000 battery-run cabs as a city-based group in collaboration with Mahindra has launched their electric cab services during the weekend. As per reports, the e-cab service is named as 'rydS' and in the next few months it will offer 1,000 battery run vehicles to various corporate firms of the city.
First 50 rydS e-cabs were flagged off by CM Siddaramaiah
The first phase of 50 Mahindra's e-Verito cars of rydS was flagged off by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as part of state government's eMobility awareness campaign. He said, "The campaign, an attempt to reduce pollution as per the state's 'Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Policy 2017, aims to engage citizens through awareness programmes to aid increase the number of electric vehicles across the state."
"It marks the next stage of evolution of our organization"
The city-based Baghirathi Group that initiated the e-cab service has reportedly invested around Rs. 130 crore in the eMobility venture. It has further proposed to conduct ride-and experience of the rydS cabs in 10 locations. Chairman of the group, Mahesh Hariharan said, "RydS marks the next stage of evolution of our organization. It's our vision to create shared, connected and sustainable mobility solutions."
Mahindra Electric has announced Rs. 400 crore investment in Karnataka
Mahindra Electric's CEO Mahesh Babu has also announced Rs. 400 crore investment in the state for electric vehicles. He said, "We are very happy to lead the EV movement in Karnataka. The state is our home ground and we already have three fully functioning facilities in Bengaluru," he said. rydS was launched just days after BESCOM announced the installations of charging stations for e-vehicles.
