Bengaluru: Congressman throws petrol in BBMP office
Days after the son of a Karnataka Congress MLA was booked on charges of attempt to murder, yet another embarrassing incident for the ruling Congress party came to light on Tuesday. A video showing Congressman K Narayanaswamy throwing petrol inside the BBMP office in KR Puram has been making rounds. He is also seen threatening an employee that he would burn down the office.
A case has been registered against the Congress leader
A case has been registered against Narayanaswamy under Sections 353, 427, 341, 504 and 506 of Indian Panel Code on the complaint of a BBMP Revenue officer. As per reports, Narayanaswamy is the former president of the KR Puram Block Congress and also a close aide of KR Puram MLA Byrathi Basavaraj. He is currently a member of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.
He also threatened to set the building on fire
The video shows Narayanaswamy walking with a petrol bottle and splashing it all over the BBMP office. After the leader was requested to calm down, he threatened to burn down the office. Following the incident, Karnataka Congress President G Parameshwara tweeted, "I have instructed our Bengaluru District North District Congress Committee (DCC) to immediately suspend Narayanswamy."
Narayanaswamy did this to pressurize BBMP official for a document
According to reports, the Congress leader took this drastic step to pressurize Chengal Rayappa, the assistant revenue officer of Horamavu to issue khata (document for a property) for a private layout. A few drops of petrol from the bottle in Narayanaswamy's hand even landed on Rayappa's table. The recorded video is from February 16.
