Bengaluru: Check-in from airport buses, skip line
Have no check-in luggage, yet have to stand in queue to get your boarding pass? Why not take the BMTC volvo bus to the airport and do the check-in in the kiosks installed inside and get a printed boarding pass? You read it right. Buses plying between Electronic City and airport have now been equipped with such kiosks after the Kempegowda Bus Station-airport route.
The response received in first pilot encouraged BMTC
The app-based cab service was taking a toll on BMTC, thus this step was implemented to increase ridership. The bus stand-airport route has given BMTC the encouragement to go ahead with the second phase of the project. "The previous pilot which had gone live for 20 days showed good response. We will gradually introduce this facility in all the routes," Divisional Controller, BMTC, said.
Passengers of five flight carriers will get to avail kiosk
Right now, there are 100 Vayu Vajra Volvo buses plying from different areas of the city to the Kempegowda International airport and some buses do flash flight timing and schedule. This development is surely a step ahead and will help especially those who have only hand luggage. Passengers of Air Asia, GoAir, IndiGo, Jet Airways and SpiceJet will be able to avail the services.
