Bengaluru: 3 more bus services to airport, soon
Keeping in mind Bengaluru's Kempegowda International airport's ever-growing passenger traffic, the public transport agency, BMTC, has planned to add three more bus services to its 'Vayu Vajra' fleet. The launch date hasn't been decided yet, but the buses are expected to ply 30-40 times daily, said BMTC officials. The buses will connect the airport to ITPL, Shivaji Nagar/MG Road and Bannerghatta Road.
Four corridor road project to connect KIA to Bengaluru
It takes hours to travel through Bengaluru's clogged roads to reach the airport; the state government has been playing with many options to ease the movement. For example, last year in September, the Siddaramaiah-led government approved a Rs. 2,100cr road project, whereby four corridors having double roads would connect the city to KIA. However, the project is expected to be finished by 2020.
Two metro stations connecting Airport are also being planned
Apart from these measures, plan is on the anvil to connect the airport via metro. If implemented, this will take load off the roads. Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited had earlier submitted a report detailing the plan to make 2 metro stations inside the airport. However, till the Gottigere-Nagawara metro (Red line) gets finished by 2023, airport line cannot be constructed.
