Bengaluru: Woman stabs live-in partner to death after dispute
A heated argument between a couple in a live-in relationship turned deadly on Tuesday, as Renuka Basavaraju Bandiwaddar alias Rekha Gowda (34) allegedly stabbed her partner Javed (29) in their service apartment in Bengaluru. The couple had been together for three-and-a-half years after meeting through mutual friends at a pub. They reportedly bickered frequently over the woman, the mother of a six-year-old girl, being friends with other men.
Deceased had booked flat for three days
The deceased hailed from Kerala's Kannur and worked as a cell phone technician in Bengaluru, while the accused belonged to Karnataka's Belagavi and had been living in Bengaluru for 15 years. Javed had even taken her to his hometown to meet his family. The couple reportedly lived at multiple places, and last week, the man rented the apartment in Hulimavu's Akshayanagar, where the incident took place, for three days in the name of Riyaz, The Times of India reported.
Building owner found accused sitting beside deceased
Around 3:15 pm, the woman stabbed the deceased following a bitter dispute. Building manager Sunil alerted building owner Ganesh around 3:30pm, who rushed to the apartment and found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with the accused sitting beside him. Javed was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Later, the accused tried to flee, but the building's security guard locked the door and informed the police, Onmanorama reported.
Couple's turbulent history uncovered after checking phone: Police
The police arrested the woman, and the deceased's body was handed over to his family. However, they said that the accused didn't reveal the details of their fight. Following this, the police checked her cell phone and prima facie found that she was friends with other men, which led to the dispute. The woman was a college dropout and was unemployed. She allegedly wanted a luxurious life, per Onmanorama.
