Bengaluru: Rains today too; IPL match might not be affected
Bengaluru's weather is drool-worthy! The city has been receiving light pre-monsoon showers accompanied by thunderstorm and gusty winds since yesterday and the weather remained the same today too. This might be 'dampening' news for many as there is an IPL match between RCB and DD scheduled at Chinnaswamy stadium. Skymet predicts the match might not be affected, but the toss can get delayed.
Not all was well: Waterlogging, slow traffic, electricity-polls uprooted
Due to the wind speed, several incidents of trees and electricity poles getting uprooted were reported yesterday, BBMP said. Waterlogging at major junctions like Majestic bus stand and near Ecospace slowed down the traffic. IMD predicts that this weather will stay till Tuesday, while Skymet said that the city will receive rain for the next 24 hours, accompanied by isolated thunderstorm.
Wind-discontinuity from North Karnataka causing rains
Bengaluru received a total of 17mm pre-monsoon rainfall, which was caused by a wind-discontinuity from North Karnataka up to Tamil Nadu. Other parts of the state like Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada too received rainfall, said Dr G S Srinivasa Reddy, Director, KSNDMC. The rainfall started late in the afternoon, was scattered and did not last long, as per characteristic of pre-monsoon shower.
