GST Impact- Taxes on Kannada movie tickets maybe reimbursed
With the Goods and Services Tax to come into effect from 1st July in Karnataka, the Karnataka government is contemplating the reimbursement of tax collected on Kannada movie tickets. Bengaluru's rains uproot 117 trees, choke traffic
The bout of stormy winds and heavy rainfall in Bengaluru on the night of 20th May uprooted 117 trees, choked the traffic for several hours and turned the city dark due to several power outages. According to reports, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) received 17 complaints of waterlogging. Reports also suggest that the BBMP was unresponsive to the complaints, for the most part.
CM Siddaramaiah's convoy gives way to ambulance
On Sunday evening, the Chief Minister's convoy was asked to give way to an ambulance. CM Siddaramaiah and his entourage landed at HAL airport at approximately 4:30 pm and the Old Airport Road had been cleared for his convoy. However, an ambulance from Hosmat hospital turned into the same road, and the pilot of the convoy was asked to stop for the same.
Metro corridor inspection to begin on 24th May
KA Manoharan, the Commissioner of Railway Safety said preliminary inspection of the Metro corridor will begin on 24th May. He said the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has submitted most papers related to trial runs and certificates from other agencies. Commercial operations on the Metro line are expected to start in June.
Forest bathing concept from Japan arrives in Bengaluru
The Japanese forest bathing concept will soon commence in the tree park currently being built in Kadugodi Plantation. The first tree park to open in East Bengaluru, the tree park will be 71 acres large. The Kadugodi Plantation is the single largest land parcel owned by the government in Bengaluru. A tree park allows its visitors to feel like they're in a forest.
