Karnataka: BJP MLC sends porn images on WhatsApp group
According to reports, Belagavi MLC from BJP, Mahantesh Kavatagimath posted at least 50 PDF files containing nude pictures of women on the Belagavi Media Force WhatsApp group. The group's members include politicians, senior police officials and media persons. The MLC was immediately removed from the group; his phone has been switched off since then. Movies in Karnataka multiplexes to cost Rs. 200 or less
More than a month after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed a cap on ticket prices in his budget speech, the Karnataka government passed an order with regards to the same yesterday. The order states all theatres, including multiplexes must cap their ticket prices at Rs. 200. However, Gold Class tickets, IMAX tickets and 4DX tickets have been excluded from this provision.
Hotel owners open washrooms to public
The Karnataka Restaurant Owners' Association on Tuesday voluntarily decided to allow all citizens to use washrooms at restaurants for free. The decision comes two days after South Delhi mandated its restaurants to give free access to their washrooms to women and children. However, unlike South Delhi restaurants, Karnataka hotels will keep restrooms open to everybody.
Bengaluru to launch South Asia Satellite
Three decades after hosting the first South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in India, Bengaluru is contributing to India's launch of the South Asia satellite. The GSAT-9 satellite, considered to be a gift from India to South Asian countries, will be launched on 5th May. The satellite, to be used for research purposes, was developed and integrated to its launcher in Bengaluru.
Metro's Green Line unlikely to commence operations in May
The Namma Metro's Green Line service between Sampige Road and Yelachanahalli was earlier promised to initiate services in April. However, with the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited unlikely to approach the Commissioner for Railway Safety (CSR) for safety clearances before May, the Green Line is unlikely to start before June. Sources say BMRCL will approach the CSR on 20th May.
Froth at Bellandur and Varthur to be tackled by siphons
The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) is currently attempting to rid the Bellandur and Varthur lakes of their froths through a siphon system. After successfully trying out the same at Varthur Kodi in April, officials are planning to duplicate the system at 4 other outlets. This method will be used only until Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are set up.
