Bengaluru's Namma Metro trains to get three additional coaches
Bengaluru's Namma Metro is all set to get its much-awaited additional train coaches soon. As per reports, the Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) will most likely hand over the first set of three coaches to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited(BMRCL) on February 14. "The first set of three coaches will roll out on February 14 at BEML," said BMRCL managing director Mahendra Jain.
Commercial operations to be started by March: BMRCL chief
Jain, the BMRCL chief said that BEML will officially hand over the coaches in the presence of Bengaluru development minister K J George, after which the new coaches will be integrated into an existing train and test runs will be conducted. "We are expecting these procedures will be completed at the earliest and be ready for commercial operations by March," he said.
Trains to be operational during peak hours
The managing director further said, "The first six-car train will commence operations after clearance from railway safety authorities." As per reports, the six-car trains will be operational during peak hours of the day. Earlier in June 2017, the Karnataka government and BMRCL promised three additional coaches with at least one coach reserved for women by December 2017, but the deadline was missed.
