Bengaluru: Irfan Pathan launches his first cricket academy in South
Veteran Indian pacer Irfan Pathan recently inaugurated his first cricket academy in South India to provide quality coaching and nurture the next generation of players. The Cricket Academy of Pathans (CAP) was launched on Saturday in Bengaluru with the aim to develop the sport in the country. This is 10th such academy by Irfan in the country.
CAP caters to both boys and girls
The academies are run by Irfan and his brother Yusuf; they started their first cricket academy two years back. The Pathan brothers' academies act as an ideal platform for budding cricketers to learn the right techniques and get guidance from expert coaches. Notably, CAP caters to both boys and girls aged between age 6 to 21.
We have no dearth of talent in India: Irfan
Inaugurating the new academy, Irfan said, "Cricket is 80 percent mental and 20 percent physical. We have no dearth of talent in India. It's just that they need to be mentored, trained and guided in the right direction." He added, "Our coaches work with chosen players to offer personalized and specialized mentoring to develop techniques that help build confidence and self-belief."
CAP plans to open 20 more academies by next year
CAP MD Harmeet Vasdev said, "The CAP program creates intrinsically motivated players who thrive on competition and who understand there are consequences to actions." CAP plans to open 20 more academies in different cities of the country including Patna, Pune, Kota, Indore, and Hyderabad by mid next year. Presently, CAP academies are present in Raipur, Port Blair, Noida, Lunawada, Surat, Sonipat, Rajkot, and Delhi.
