Bengaluru woman sets example, overpowers molester, takes him to police
Days after a Bengaluru woman was forced to strip and pose by a cabbie, another similar case has come to the fore. A 25-year-old woman, while on a walk near Whitefield one day last week around 9.15PM, was allegedly attacked by a man, who tried to strip her. But she bravely retaliated and later handed him over to police.
The molester pounced on her, trying to strip her
The woman, a Bhubaneshwar native, works as a techie at an IT major. In her complaint, she said she was taking a walk near her PG in Kundalahalli, which is near the IT hub. Just then, Vijay Kumar, the accused, pounced on her and tried to take off her shirt, making her trip and fall. However, she immediately got up and started hitting him.
When he got scared and ran, she started chasing him
Caught by surprise at the retaliation, Vijay, a bartender, got scared and fled the spot. But she didn't give up; she started chasing him and with a passerby's help, finally caught him and dragged him to the police station. While he claims he did it while inebriated, the woman contested it, saying it was intentional. He was arrested upon a complaint lodged on Thursday.
Another place, another molestation on the same day
On the same day, the city police received another complaint from a 30-year-old, alleging that a gang of five drivers had molested her. The private firm employee said when she was returning home, she found a bike blocking her way on ECC Road. When she asked the owner to remove it, he and four of his friends started misbehaving with her. All are absconding.
Last week, Bengaluru was shamed by an Ola driver, again
Bengaluru was shamed last week, when an architect was molested, forced to strip and have her nude pictures clicked by her Ola driver, who threatened to get her gangraped if she didn't comply. After the harrowing experience, she begged him to release her and promised she wouldn't tell anyone. But she contacted police soon after he let her go. He was nabbed within hours.
